How Stressed are You?

With the holidays just around the corner, we may be trying to squeeze in as much as possible-which can lead to increased STRESS levels.

Managing stress is an important part of health maintenance, and too much of it can often lead to unhealthy patterns. Practicing relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga, and time management are all skills that might help us to better handle stress.

Are you a stress eater?

Stress management is part of our Foundation program because your ability to manage stress can make an important difference in the quality of your life. It may actually influence your survival.
  • Physical symptoms of stress include headaches, indigestion, stomachaches, sweaty palms, sleep difficulties, back pain, tight shoulders/neck, racing heart and fatigue.
  • Behavioral symptoms include excessive smoking, compulsive gum chewing, being critical of others, grinding one's teeth at night, overuse of alcohol and compulsive eating.
  • Emotional symptoms including crying, nervousness, boredom, edginess, feeling powerless to change things, anger loneliness, unhappiness for no reason and being easily upset.
  • Cognitive symptoms may involve trouble thinking clearly, forgetfulness, lack of creativity, memory loss and loss of your sense of humor.
